Erachem Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide (EMD) US plant adopts industry-leading analytical instrumentation

Monday, July 4, 2016

Erachem maintains its pre-eminent role as the global leader in manganese chemistry by continuously improving its quality assurance systems. To do so, our New Johnsonville (Tennessee) plant has, recently, enhanced its analytical capabilities to measure impurities in our Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide (EMD) products, to levels not previously possible.

Since May 2016, elemental analyses of our products are performed by using state of the art, Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) technology. Side-by-side comparisons of old and new equipment underlined the benefits of the new ICP-MS instrumentation when compared with standard approaches.

The analytical benefits of the new ICP-MS generated these customer benefits:

  • Faster analysis and robust instrumentation for improved quality control
  • Increased capability to measure a broader range of elements on a more frequent basis
  • Cutting edge equipment to offer quality control for years to come

About our EMD activity:

As the world leader in the manganese chemical industry, Erachem continually invests to further improve its processes, grow its capacity to meet industry need, and develop new Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide (EMD) grades to support our customers’ product development.
