Manganese is used as an agrochemical in the feed additive (mainly for animal nutrition), fertilizer, and fungicide industries. As this product is used in the agricultural markets, Prince Erachem is committed to proactively meeting and exceeding international requirements for health and safety. Manganese is one of the nine essential micronutrients (trace minerals) needed for healthy animals. It is a required component of many enzyme systems, including carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism. Because animals store very little manganese in their bodies, their diet must contain enough manganese to meet daily requirements.

Manganese helps animals synthesize fatty acids and cholesterol.

It is also required for bone strength and reproductive health. Animals require it to efficiently utilize biotin, vitamin B1, and vitamin C. Deficiency symptoms include abnormal skeletal growth or bone porosity, poor reproductive performance in ewes and cows, small, weak offspring, increased fat deposition, gait abnormalities in new-born calves and lambs, reduced milk production, poor egg shell formation, and slipped tendons in poultry. Prince Erachem's main product for feed additives is MnO.

Erachem_Agrochemicals_Fertilizers

In addition MnCO3 and Mn(NO3)2, Prince Erachem's manganese sulfate monohydrate, Tecmangam®, is the most desired manganese fertilizer thanks to its dry and granulated form, water-solubility, and high economic return. 

Manganese belongs to the pool of metals such as zinc, boron, copper, iron, and molybdenum, that are considered to be vital micronutrients for plant growth.

Manganese activates a number of enzymes such as dehydrogenases, transferases and decarboxylases. It is known to induce a cycle of reactions within the plant, acting as a catalyst. The role of manganese in chloroplasts is clearly identified through its absolute necessity for water splitting during photosynthesis (Hill’s reaction). Manganese is also known to be important in carbon di-oxide and nitrogen assimilation. Those metabolisms are essential components to build the crop yield. Plants suck manganese up from the soil solution and transport it from root to shoot through the phloem. Once in place manganese is not translocated from older leaves to new shoots.

Essential in photosynthesis, the most visual indicators of manganese deficiency are chlorosis which appears on leaves (such as sugar beet or soybean) and can turn to necrosis with white spots on cereals leaves (cereals). Plants suffering a lack of manganese can show internodes shortening or growth problems due to reduced nitrogen metabolism.

The main purpose of manganese application is to correct the nutrition of manganese-sensitive crops grown on naturally and permanently manganese-deficient soils which occupy large areas around the world. Manganese deficiencies are found in various soils where manganese divalent caption (Mn2+) is trapped (high-pH, organic, clay soils) or lixiviated (sandy, light soils). Other factors causing this deficiency are high levels of calcium, iron, and magnesium which all share the same divalent status and compete for space on the soil particle. Liming, phosphate and manure also “tie up” manganese in an unavailable form.

A wide range of industrial crops are known to be sensitive to manganese deficiency, which can greatly affect their growth and affect their yield. Citrus, cereals, soybean, peanut, cotton, tobacco, sugar cane are amongst the most important crops the need regular manganese treatment. Manganese has also shown a very good response on glyphosate tolerant crops.

MnCl2 (Manganese Chloride)

MnCl2 (Manganese Chloride) can be used for several applications from agrochemicals to surface treatment. We manufacture MnCl2 (Manganese Chloride) at our Baltimore plant (Maryland, USA) and have several grades available: MnCl2 Prills (Manganese Chloride Prills) and MnCl2 Flakes (Manganese Chloride Flakes). Erachem MnCl2 (Manganese Chloride) is known as highly consistent and provides performance to industry pioneers.

Fungicides, in order to protect herbs and plants, need high quality minerals such as manganese and phosphates. Manganese helps control the proliferation of diseases caused by fungi that infects many crops and has other features that help to protect against mite population in citrus while provide the required minerals for green and healthy plants.
